$16 Million Dollars for a Secure Elections Facility
/$16 Million Dollars for a Secure Elections Facility
I authored a budget amendment in the 2022 budget that was approved to increase funding for the new Dane County Elections facility by $4 million dollars for a total of $16 million dollars. We have seen an organized effort to attack our elections infrastructure by enemies both foreign and domestic. I have been particularly disappointed by the repeated lies and misinformation pushed by high ranking GOP elections officials.
Dane County is one of the most high profile counties statewide and we need to support the excellent work done by our County Clerk Scott McDonnell, his staff and all of the elections officials and volunteers County wide.
The funds will allow for a design that:
Provides advanced fire suppression and protection
Secure parking and access for staff
The ability to insource critical services like printing
The infrastructure to accommodate recounts
Provide flexibility to address any emerging concerns around secure and integrity of elections
In August, I authored an amendment making it disorderly conduct to harass an election official. I will continue to make it a focus of mine to ensure fair elections and that everyone is eligible to cast a vote is able to do so and have their vote counted.
We have a very important primary to determine the direction of our State Supreme Court on February 21st. There are two liberal leaning candidates and two conservative candidates. The nightmare scenario to prevent happening is to have both conservatives Jennifer Dorow and Dan Kelly advance. Please vote for Dane County Judge Everett Mitchell or Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz. You can find voting information on voting in-person absentee or at the polls here:

Please also study your local candidates for city council, mayor and all other local races. I will be posting my recommendations in the coming weeks!
